This is a great tasting low calorie whole wheat high fiber waffle recipe that will keep you on track towards losing weight or maintaining a healthy diet! Serve it with your favorite fruit and make it even healthy!

Ingredients:

  • 1-3/4 cup whole wheat flour*
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1-3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 tsp organic honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ADD HIGH FIBER FRUITS SUCH AS: BLUEBERRIES, STRAWBERRIES,  BANANAS, NUTS TO INCREASE YOUR FIBER INTAKE.

Servings Per Recipe: 5

*Make sure your buy “WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR”. The label should list “Whole Wheat Flour” not enriched wheat flour. Enriched wheat is not whole wheat and you will not get the same benefits.

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl stir flour, baking powder, honey and salt. In a small mixing bowl beat egg yolks, milk, vanilla and applesauce.
Add to the flour mixture all at once. Stir mixture until blended. In small mixer bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold
beaten egg whites into original mixture and do not over mix. Pour batter onto preheated waffle maker which has been sprayed with
non-fat cooking spray. They take about 3-5 minutes to cook.

Healthy Tips for breakfast convenience:

Make extra batter and freeze the waffles. They freeze well and you can reheat them in a toaster. This beats the frozen waffles from your grocery store
that contain many unhealthy preservatives.
