Have you heard of fenugreek tea? Does it promote weight loss? What is fenugreek tea? It is a spice popular in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking. It has been proven to speed slimming and improve overall health. Canadian researchers recently discovered that 4-hydroxyisoleucine, an amino acid in fenugreek, boosts the pancreas’s ability to metabolize energy in the form of both sugar and fat. Another study showed that after eight weeks of consuming a daily drink made from about 1 tbs. of fenugreek, subjects had better blood sugar control and lower cholesterol levels.

Fenugreek Helps Suppress Appetite

In addition, some people have reported losing weight in a week-and 30 total-by drinking fenugreek tea daily.  Since fenugreek tea suppresses appetite, it is effective in weight loss.

The active constituents in fenugreek are alkaloids, lysine and L-tryptophan. It also contains steroidal saponins (diosgenin, yamogenin, tigogenin, and neotigogenin) and mucilaginous fiber which are believed to be responsible for many of the beneficial effects fenugreek exhibits.

The chemical compounds found in fenugreek have the ability to aid the digestive process. Consequently, when taken with meals it is believed that fenugreek is able to slow down the rate at which sugars are absorbed into the body, whereby regulating blood sugar levels. Additionally, studies indicate that 4-hydroxyisoleucine (an amino acid) found in fenugreek may induce or promote the production of insulin when blood sugar levels are elevated. In studies of animals and humans with both Diabetes and High Cholesterol levels, fenugreek appeared not only to regulate blood sugar levels but also lower levels of harmful cholesterol.

  1. “Fenugreek tea helped me lose weight. HI all, I was introduced to fenugreek seeds by a physician that does colonics. He gave it to me for weight loss. Apparently fenugreek lowers blook pressure because it cuts fat cells. He informed me that we have fat on every cell in our bodies and that when you take fenugreek as a tea it cuts the fat on your cells, which is all of them, thus causing you to lose weight as well. The way I take it is to put 1 teaspoon to a teaspoon and a half in a mug and microwave it or you can boil it in a pot and make a larger amount. The best way to take it is as a tea but if you can’t stand the taste you can do as I do. I add a tea bag after I have brought the tea to a boil and add suger and lemon juice or u can do honey. It is best if done at least three times a day. However, I was trying to test it out and was only drinking one cup a day. I tried it last year and lost 25 pounds (at one cup a day). I stopped for a while and recently picked it back up and in one week lost an additional ten pounds. All of the weight loss I am speaking of was done just drinking the tea once a day and with no excercise. So imagine what it would do with excercise and a proper diet. I highly recommend it for both high blood pressure and weight loss. Do try it, it works. Good luck and definately give your feed back of how it does for you.”

  2. weight loss teas! I got the Fenugreek tea about a month ago from Amazon at a great price. I have lost 8 pounds, I still need to lose about 36 pounds, but it is a start. I found out about it from a health magazine. And did a little research and it has a lot of health benefits and natural (organic tea) to drink forever. The magazine said twice a day on an empt stomach. It is suppose to curb your appetite helping you reduce your daily calorie intake.

I can honestly say i had a reg size tea cup and it gives you gas! So I would stick to just two cups a day and maybe one cup of tea with the fenugreek tea capsules .good luck! But I would exercise too and eat healthy to maximize results and start healthy lifestyle.
